Achievements of a horse riding champion
Wednesday, November 26th, 2008Bringing in some horse rugs, blankets, saddle girths, saddle pads, tack, horse clothing, horse boots, and feeding the horse with hay and water is not the only thing the riders are concerned with. They thrive to come up as champions. Here’s an inspirational story of a horse riding champion.
Lucinda Green, one of the most acclaimed British equestrian champions, has bagged yet another prestigious award. This former world champion of horse riding recently got awarded for her outstanding contribution to the equestrian world.
Green was presented the prestigious Martin Collins Special Award for her outstanding contribution to equestrianism. The award was given to her at the Animal Health Trust’s (AHT) awards ceremony.
The award was to be given to the person with maximum number of contributions to the equine sports over a time period of last 20 years. Other nominees for the award included the likes of Whitaker family and Lee Pearson.
A much elated Lucinda was quoted saying, “This is something that I really can’t believe has happened, it is the most unexpected award to have come my way in many years. I never even considered that it would be me when in the company of such other worthy finalists in Lee Pearson and the Whitaker family. I am surprised but wholly delighted and I would like to thank all who voted for me.”
The award was presented to her by the founder of Martin Collins Enterprises, martin Collins. Commenting on Lucinda’s achievements, he said, “Lucinda Green is an icon for equestrian sport; she is still providing inspiration to hundreds of riders young and old through her very successful clinics and training videos. Throughout her career she has been a superb ambassador for eventing and continues to play a very important part in the development of the sport in the UK and around the world.
Lucinda has a great equestrian career background before she worked as a commentator journalist, and a host to training clinics. She is also privileged with being a member of the board of directors and chairman of selectors for British Eventing. This great horse rider is the only person to have bagged the Badminton Horse Trials six times on six different horses. Not only this, she has also remained an Olympic silver medalist.
